SYNOPSIS:
A young, African American musician, The Youth, travels on a picaresque journey to find "the real." His journey is complicated by his need to rebel against his mother and his upbringing in a church-going, middle-class, late 1970s South Central Los Angeles neighborhood. The Youth grows up, "passing" through place to place, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Los Angeles. As a musician, he attempts to express his true self through a number of musical styles, including gospel, punk, blues, jazz, and rock.
